Kim Sponem serves as a member of the Board of Directors of CUNA Mutual Holding Company, a leading provider of financial services to cooperatives, credit unions, their members, and valued customers worldwide. She joined the board in October 2024.

Sponem is the President and CEO of Summit Credit Union of Cottage Grove, Wisconsin, which serves more than 275,000 members focusing on the financial needs of women to build a strong financial future. Sponem has been with the credit union since 1995 and has served as CEO since 2002. Under her leadership, Summit has grown from $200 million to over $7.3 billion in assets.

She brings more than 30 years of experience in the financial sector and is a strong advocate of women building a stronger financial future. She has been inducted into America’s Credit Union Museum and the CUES Hall of Fame.

Sponem has also served on the boards of the Chicago Federal Reserve, Corporate Central Credit Union, CUES, the World Council of Credit Union Foundation and the Credit Union National Association World Affairs and Advocacy Committees.

She is also committed to her local community, serving on the boards of the Madison Area Chamber of Commerce, the Oscar Rennebohm Foundation, Society Insurance, Origence Solutions and Wisconsin Physicians Service. Sponem is a champion of local efforts like the Center for Black Excellence, the Black Business Hub, the Boys and Girls Club McKinsey Center for teens interested in the trades, One City schools and Centro Hispano.

Sponem earned her bachelor’s degree in consumer science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a master’s degree in business administration from Edgewood College.

Sponem resides in Monona, Wisconsin.
